People were forced to take cover as gunshots rang out near George Floyd Square, as the intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis is known, on the first anniversary of Floyd’s death on May 25, local media reported.

In a video livestreamed by www.krsmradio.org/BIPOC Media reporter Rico Morales, gunshots can be heard at 18 seconds as people are seen fleeing and hiding behind parked vehicles.

An Associated Press journalist, on camera at the time, reported hearing as many as two dozen gunshots about a block from the intersection, and said a storefront window appeared to have been broken by a gunshot.

The intersection is set to be transformed into a festival marking the anniversary of Floyd’s death, with musical performers, food vendors, and children’s activities all planned, local media said. Credit: www.krsmradio.org/BIPOC Media via Storyful
