Fire Crews Make Progress on River Fire Burning Near Yosemite National Park

The River Fire in Northern California’s Mariposa and Madera counties reached 9,500 acres (about 15 square miles) and destroyed a total of five structures as of Friday, July 16, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was 51 percent contained on Friday, officials said. All road closures and evacuations in Madera County were lifted on Thursday evening.
