The Lava Fire had burned 23,849 acres and was at 27 percent containment as of the morning of Friday, July 2, as crews worked to mop up the southern end of the blaze in Siskiyou County, California, according to fire officials.

Evacuation orders in Lake Shastina and Carrick were lifted as of Thursday evening, local media reported.

This aerial footage released by the Nevada National Guard shows its 152nd Airlift Wing unit battling the fire on day seven of its activation at the McClellan Air Tanker Reload Base in Sacramento, California, they said.

“As of today, the C-130 unit has worked three wildland fires – Salt, Lava, and Dotta – with 20 sorties and 57,804 gallons of retardant dropped,” the National Guard wrote. Credit: Nevada National Guard via Storyful
