Local Residents Displaced by Genoa Bridge Disaster Return to Collect Belongings

6 年前

Residents of houses below Genoa’s Morandi bridge, who have been made temporarily homeless since a section of the bridge collapsed, were allowed return home briefly on August 16 to collect essential belongings.

Video by Italy’s national fire service shows just how much a part of life the Morandi bridge was for residents, with the supports of the viaduct in some cases leaning against the tops of apartment buildings. The roofs of the buildings, which preexisted the viaduct, were carved to accommodate the supports. Credit: Vigli del Fuoco via Storyful
