Afghan evacuees departed from Fort Bliss, a US Army base near El Paso, Texas, to be resettled in places such as Massachusetts, footage posted on September 24 shows.

The Dona Ana Range Complex at Fort Bliss was turned into a “village” to provide security and safety to those arriving from Afghanistan, as part of the ongoing Operation Allies Welcome, officials said.

This footage shows Afghan men and women leaving the complex for El Paso International Airport, from which they were relocated across the US. Massachusetts began receiving Afghan families from Fort Bliss over the weekend, according to boston.com.

Leo Olivarez, the Department of Homeland Security section chief for Fort Bliss, said “I think that every one of the individuals in the group are excited that they’ve gotten to this point.” Credit: DVIDS via Storyful
