A curfew was in place in Akron, Ohio, on July 4, and fireworks were canceled amid ongoing protests after the fatal police shooting of Jayland Walker on June 27.
This footage posted to the Twitter page of @thefreedomBLOC shows protesters walking down a residential street, waving signs, and chanting a slogan. According to the uploader, the protesters were marching to Akron Mayor Daniel Horrigan’s house.
According to The Freedom Bloc, a social justice organization, the protesters were heading to the mayor’s house to deliver their demands. The group had previously posted a list of demands on their Instagram page.
Protesters also took to the streets of Akron, Ohio, on Sunday, July 3, the same day the Akron Police Department released bodycam footage of the fatal shooting of the 25-year-old black man.
