The first patients have been admitted to the NHS Nightingale hospital in London’s ExCel Centre on April 7, just two weeks after the temporary hospital was formally announced.

The London Ambulance service posted a video of a patient arriving to their official Twitter profile on April 8, and said they “were proud to have been involved in [NHS Nightingale’s] creation and to now play our part helping patients.”

The ExCel Centre was transformed into a huge field hospital with a capacity for 4,000 patients. However, the hospital will initially take on 500 coronavirus patients, who are being transferred from other intensive care units in the capital, according to local media.
