Parts of Fremont National Forest were left blackened on July 30 after the massive Bootleg Fire ripped through the area in Oregon’s south.

The wildfire was over 413,000 acres and 74 percent contained on August 1, according to firefighting authorities. Favourable firefighting conditions including light rain in the days before had moderated fire behaviour.
