King Charles III and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom arrived in Bordeaux on Friday, September 22, on the third and final day of their first state visit to France since acceding to the throne.

Mayor of Bordeaux Pierre Hurmic delivered a speech welcoming the royals in which he described Bordeaux as a “British-friendly city.”

A day earlier, Hurmic met Marvin Rees, the mayor of Bristol, a British city twinned with Bordeaux since 1947, to renew the long-standing relationship. The Royal Family said it had been the “first UK-France city twinning of its kind.”
