China’s National Space Administration (CNSA) released images on June 29 of the surface of Mars taken by its Tianwen-1 orbiter on its 1,344 trips around the planet.

The CNSA said the Tianwen-1 had spent more than 700 days in orbit, acquiring “medium-resolution image data covering the entire world of Mars.”

A number of Mars landmarks featured in the released images including the planet’s South Pole as well as an impact crater on the Arabian Terra.

Another image was shared from the surface taken by the Zhurong rover. The CNSA said the rover has traveled nearly 2 km on the surface of Mars.

The images were released as both the Tianwen-1 and the rover had completed their exploration, the CNSA said. Credit: CNSA via Storyful
