Evacuations Remain in Place as Wildfires Burn in Northwest Washington

Evacuations remained in place for parts of Chelan County, northwest Washington, on Sunday, August 14, as fire crews battled a lightning-sparked wildfire, officials said.

By Sunday afternoon, the White River fire burned 341 acres and was zero percent contained, according to official fire reports.

According to Chelan County Emergency Management, the fire burned about 4 miles from the lake on Sunday. Local media reported that as many as thirteen small wildfires were started by lightning in the same area. Credit: Lainy Carslaw via Storyful
