A farmer plowed a tribute to the National Health Service into a field on his family farm in Staunton-on-Wye, Hereford, on April 6 to show appreciation for the UK’s health care workers fighting COVID-19.

The public have been showing their thanks to NHS staff with the ‘Clap for Carers’ initiative weekly on Thursdays. Several other farmers have carved similar messages of appreciation into their fields.

Jack Pantall was inspired to create the sign by his brother and sister-in-law, who work for the health service. He set up his own Just Giving page to support the Association of NHS Charities after plowing the message.

The sign is about 200 feet tall by 500 feet wide, according to local media.

There is a wider fundraising campaign running to raise money for charities that support NHS staff and volunteers working with COVID-19 patients.

As of April 8, UK officials reported 55,242 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus and 6,159 deaths.
