Anti-government protesters took to the streets of Khartoum, Sudan, on June 30, as demonstrations in the country left at least nine shot dead, according to a medical group that has been tracking casualties since the protests began in October 2021.

Resistance committees called for the continuation of protests until the military, which took power in a coup last fall, stands down.

This footage uploaded to Twitter by @HkZuk shows demonstrators marching through the streets in the south of the city, holding banners that read, “No negotiation, no cooperation, no legitimacy” and “Down with military rule,” waving flags, and chanting to protest the coup.

Thursday’s protests came on the anniversary of a previous coup – on June 30, 1989 – which brought on three decades of authoritarian rule by former general Omar al-Bashir.

According to the doctor’s group that tracks casualties, 112 people have lost their lives at protests since the October 2021 coup. Credit: @HkZuk via Storyful
