Final Police Honors Given to Houston Officer Who Died of COVID-19

Law enforcement were joined by other mourners on October 18 as Houston police officer John Wilbanks was given final honors outside a church in the city, less than one week after he died from complications of COVID-19.

Wilbanks is the second Houston Police Department officer to die from the coronavirus, according to local reports. Officers previously escorted Wilbanks’ remains as they were brought to a local funeral home following his death on October 13. The officer was 53 years old at the time of his death.
