Firefighters in London said they were called early on Friday, May 7, to a fire burning across three floors of a 19-story apartment block near Canary Wharf.

Around 125 firefighters and 20 fire engines were sent to the building, at New Providence Wharf in Poplar.

Parts of the eighth, ninth and 10th floors were on fire, the London Fire Brigade said. Ambulance crews said they were treating “a number of people”.
