Two people and a dog were killed when a plane crashed in Lone Tree, Colorado, on June 16, local fire officials said.

A brush fire erupted following the crash, they said, and was soon brought under control.

The local electric company, Metcom, took down power lines following the crash, causing outages in Parker and Lone Tree, local police said.

Initial reports indicated that the plane crashed when it hit power lines as it was approaching Centennial Airport.
