Police urged east Florida residents to shelter in place on Thursday, September 29, as Hurricane Ian continued its trek northeast through the state.

Video from the DeLand Police Department shows “significant flooding” at Earl Brown Park on Thursday.

The National Weather Service warned “catastrophic flooding” from Ian was a threat through Thursday. The City of DeLand cited the service as saying five to 10 inches of rain had fallen by 8 am, with an additional two to four inches expected.
