Several crews carried out high-water rescues in Florida’s Volusia County on September 29, county officials said.
Footage by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office shows crews attending abandoned, partially submerged vehicles and rescuing people from their homes. No one was inside the submerged vehicle seen in the video, the sheriff’s office confirmed.
Sheriff Mike Chitwood said the county was seeing “historic flooding” as a result of Hurricane Ian.
Chitwood urged people to stay off the roads so as not to plow floodwaters into people’s homes. A countywide curfew was in place until Friday. Credit: Volusia Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
