A koala named Jade was released back into her home territory on September 20 after a brief stay at an animal hospital in Port Stephens, New South Wales.

The marsupial was returned to Glen Oak, a rural community in the state, by Port Stephens Koalas, an animal sanctuary dedicated to the welfare of the animal.

In footage posted on the sanctuary’s Facebook page, a narrator said, “There are other koalas in this area so she can probably already smell the koala scent.”

After some initial skepticism of her surroundings, the koala briskly climbs a tree, marking another “successful release” for the sanctuary. Credit: Port Stephens Koalas via Storyful
