A group of animal-loving volunteers sprang into action after the massive August 4 explosion in Beirut, seeking to reunite pets who got lost in the hubbub with their owners.

Animals Lebanon, an NGO based in Beirut, focused not only on bringing animals back to owners, but also on helping rescue and shelter animals after the blast that killed more than 130 people, according to reports.

The first part of the video shows damage to the office of Animals Lebanon, with cats darting around amid broken glass, followed by footage of bloody paw prints.

The video then shows volunteers taking lost dogs to their owners.

“We have had more than 40 people working in teams of two or three. So far, we found about 20 lost animals,” Animals Lebanon told Storyful.

The charity was seeking donations via its website, animalslebanon.org. Credit: Animals Lebanon via Storyful
