California comedian Everett Byram re-enacted Kendall Jenner’s controversial Pepsi commercial by offering an LAPD officer a can of Coca-Cola during a demonstration in Los Angeles on June 2.

The video shows Byram walking up to the police officer with an extended hand to offer him a can of Coca-Cola. The officer politely asks him to back up and tells him he appreciates the offer. Byram can be heard telling the officer “but it helped in the commercial.” The officer, seemingly understanding the joke, tells Byram, “I don’t drink soda.”

Byram told Storyful he made this video as a satire of the “infamous tone-deaf Kendall Jenner handing a Pepsi to a cop commercial.” The video is intended to be a social commentary on the influence celebrities can have on those who look up to them.

Byram said the police were standing right outside his home as the evening’s protest marched by.

He added that the demonstration was peaceful and the positive atmosphere resembled a parade.

“It is also worth noting that it was not actually a Pepsi that I was offering. Pepsi is delicious. I attempted to hand the cop a nasty Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Orange Vanilla,” said Byram. Credit: Everett Byram via Storyful
