As the aviation industry ground to a near standstill owing to the coronavirus pandemic, British Airways has housed a large number of its fleet at Bournemouth Airport, along England’s south coast.

A March 30 report by local media stated that “more than 30 British Airways planes” were parked at the airport, with 37 given by one source as the total number.

Footage showing a large number of grounded planes was posted online on March 28. Sonja Greenfield, a native of Bournemouth, shared the video via her Instagram account. Captioning the footage, she wrote that it was “really something to witness for our sleepy little airport,” adding that it "brought the impact home to see this.

She continued, “And what a sight. It seemed to stretch on and on, and they were banked up behind each other.” Credit: Sonja Greenfield via Storyful
