The sixth day of searching in Florida’s Carlton Reserve for Brian Laundrie commenced on Friday morning, September 24, after the FBI issued a warrant for his arrest related to the death of Gabby Petito and asked the public for information.

Officials used ATVs and swamp buggies to traverse the difficult terrain. Specialized dive teams were called in to search bodies of water, the Sarasota Sheriff said.

The FBI joined the search for Laundrie after authorities found Petito’s body in the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area of the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming. Her death was determined to be a homicide, the FBI said in a statement.

A federal warrant was issued for Laundrie’s arrest on September 22, the FBI announced, “pursuant to a Federal Grand Jury indictment related to Mr Laundrie’s activities following the death of Gabrielle Petito.”

Laundrie has not been seen since September 13, according to reports.

Video shared with Storyful by the North Port Police captured scenes from Friday’s search. Via email, the department said, “This is an FBI led criminal investigation and North Port Police are assisting our federal partner in any way we can to bring this investigation to a close.”

In the footage, North Port Police Commander Joe Fussell said, “We’re covering this area as well as we can. These guys are working really hard … We’re working as hard as we can to find him now as we were on day one.” Credit: North Port Police via Storyful
