Lava Shooting From Spain's Cumbre Vieja Volcano Glows Against Night Sky

Lava continued to spew from the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma on Friday, October 22; the molten rock had flowed across more than 886 hectares (about 3.3 square miles), according to Copernicus Emergency Management Service.

Lava flows that had prompted evacuations near the town of La Laguna had slowed on October 22, according to the local emergency service 1-1-2 Canarias.
