Protesters gathered outside the Embassy of Myanmar in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 1, to mark the second anniversary of the military coup that ousted Aung San Suu Kyi’s government.

A “silent strike” was conducted in Myanmar to mark the anniversary and to stand in opposition to military rule, with businesses closing throughout the country, according to the Bangkok Post.

This footage from reporter @Chayaniti92 shows crowds of protesters chanting outside the embassy as police stand overhead on a pedestrian bridge. Many protesters can be seen wearing red headbands and waving red flags with the symbol for Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy Party.

A theatre performance also took place on the street outside the embassy, with protesters re-enacting violent military oppression in Myanmar. Credit: @Chayaniti92 via Storyful
