'Our Rain Dance Worked!' Thunderstorm Brings Southwestern Nebraska Drought Relief

Storms brought heavy rain and wind gusts as high as 40 mph to southwestern Nebraska late on June 30 into early July 1, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

This video posted to Facebook early Friday morning by the NWS in North Platte shows lightning and heavy rain.

“And just like that, our rain dance worked!” the service wrote.

Storms were expected to continue into Friday night, the NWS said.
