At least two people were killed and 10 injured in Ukraine’s northeastern Sumy region on Friday, March 24, as Russian forces struck homes, schools and government buildings in towns close to the border, according to Ukrainian officials.

Footage released by Sumy Regional Police shows the ruins of a police station in Bilopillia that they said was destroyed by Russian strikes.

The attacks on Bilopillia killed a police officer and a school janitor, according to police and town officials.

Taras Savchenko, the acting head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, said four police officers and five civilians were injured in Bilopillia, according to Ukraine’s public broadcasting service Suspilne.

Strikes were also reported in the neighboring towns and villages of Vorozhba, Vyry, and Richky.

The bombardment caused damage to a village council building, three educational buildings, a kindergarten, vehicles, and about 18 residential buildings, Sumy police said.
