A family opted for day at the pool after they spotted a shark extremely close to shore at Ormond Beach in Ormond Beach, Florida on July 9.

Khrysten Martino, a home health RN and mother of two, recorded this video and told Storyful she took her children to the beach for some fresh air.

Martino told Storyful they were making sandcastles and playing in the water when they noticed splashing in the distance.

“I first suspected it to be a dolphin trying to catch a fish so I picked up my kids out of the water so they could see,” she said. “Then I realized by the fin that this was a large shark.”

Martino said the shark started to chase what appeared to be a smaller shark toward the shore. She grabbed her phone, capturing the moment the shark came right up to the shore.

“It quickly swam back out to the ocean realizing the water was too shallow, leaving its lunch behind,” she said. “My son no longer wanted to be in the water after seeing this, so we packed up shortly after and headed home to swim in our shark free pool.” Credit: Khrysten Martino via Storyful
