Shrimp Boat Beached in South Carolina by Hurricane Ian Gets Back Out to Sea

A shrimp boat that was carried ashore by storm Ian and stranded in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was back out to sea on Tuesday, October 4, video shows.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department posted this video to Facebook showing the Shayna Michelle sailing toward the horizon on Tuesday with a few spectators gathered on the beach to watch her departure.

The photogenic boat, which has been featured on several TV shows, washed ashore when Hurricane Ian hit the Carolinas last week. According to a GoFundMe page seeking help with expenses to get the vessel pulled off the beach, crew were attempting to make it back home to Holden Beach, North Carolina, when they became stranded less than two miles from shore with engine issues.

The boat’s passengers were rescued by the Coast Guard and taken to the hospital, where they were treated for hypothermia, the GoFundMe reads.
