Smoke Rises Into Santa Rosa Sky as New Mexico Wildfires Grow

Smoke billowed into the sky over Santa Rosa, New Mexico, as wildfires continued to advance and red flag warnings remained in place for parts of the state on Tuesday, May 10.

This footage, captured by Antonette Gonzales on Monday afternoon, shows smoke rising into the air along Route 66 in Santa Rosa.

New Mexico’s two main wildfires, Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon, both started in April, burned 203,920 acres (319 square miles) by May 10, and were 39 percent contained, according to local fire reports.
