Storm Christoph Overflows the River Severn in Shrewsbury

The River Severn was expected to crest in Shrewsbury, England, on the evening of January 21, following heavy rainfall from Storm Christoph across the UK.

Local news reports said flood warnings were in place for Shrewsbury, where the river was expected to reach a peak swell of up to 5.1 meters (approximately 16 feet). The Shropshire Star reported that local authorities had waived COVID-19 lockdown restrictions for those affected by the flooding.

Storm Christoph brought heavy rain and snow to the UK, causing flooding in multiple homes and roadways in England and Wales, reports said.
