Tsunami Warning Prompts Evacuations After Earthquake Off Alaskan Coast

Residents evacuated their homes in multiple areas of Alaska after a magnitude 8.2 earthquake prompted a tsunami warning late on July 28.

This footage, by Jennifer Sonne, shows tsunami sirens wailing in Kodiak.

Officials lifted the tsunami warning in the early hours of July 29, but the weather service said “strong and unusual currents” could continue for several hours.
