Two Bald Eagles Locked in Epic Struggle in Seattle Yard

Two bald eagles were recorded locked in an epic struggle in a resident’s backyard in Seattle, Washington, recently.

Kimberly McCormick told Storyful she saw the incident take place in a neighbor’s yard on May 1, and that it went on for at least three hours.

“After consulting with naturalists who are familiar with this type of eagle behavior, we determined that these were likely two adult males engaged in a territorial dispute,” McCormick said. “During these disputes, the eagles lock talons. The eagle that is first to release his grip is the less-dominant one. It was decided that we should let the eagles work things out on their own, rather than try any type of human intervention. The eagles had talons locked for 3-5 hours.” Credit: Kimberly McCormick via Storyful
