JSU, Alcorn State and MVSU women's basketball teams are gearing up another season. JSU has a new head coach in Margaret Richards who takes over a Tigers program that has been dominant in the SWAC. Alcorn State returns key players to a team that made a run to the SWAC Championship and they're out to prove that last year wasn't a fluke. MVSU is led by first team all preseason pick Sh'Diamond McKnight as they look to turn heads this year. Grambling was picked to win the league, JSU fourth and Alcorn State 7th in the preseason poll. Alcorn State's Destiny Brown was picked as the Offensive Player of the Year while her teammate Zy'Nia White as a second team selection.
