Thunderstorms churned around the center of circulation of a potential cyclone in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, June 18.

The tropical disturbance, dubbed Potential Tropical Cyclone One, could bring gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding to parts of Texas’s coast and northeastern Mexico, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

Images captured and released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s GOES East satellite shows clouds swirling over the ocean as lightning flashes.
