TikTok faces multiple complaints from EU groups alleging it broke the bloc's consumer laws, and failed to protect children.

The short video sharing app has been growing rapidly around the world.

But it faces growing criticism over its privacy and safety policies.

European consumer group BEUC cites several issues in its complaint.

It says TikTok's terms of service favor the firm at users' expense.

That includes an irrevocable right to use posted videos without any remuneration for the creators.

It says the app has also failed to protect children from hidden advertising and inappropriate content.

Consumer organizations in 15 other countries have also called on national authorities to act.

A TikTok spokesman said it had contacted BEUC to discuss its concerns, and was always ready to improve.
