More evacuation orders were issued for parts of Shelburne County, on Nova Scotia’s southeast coast, on June 2, as the largest forest fire in the province’s recorded history was still out of control, local officials said.

This footage released by the Nova Scotia Government shows the ongoing firefighting efforts in the county.

By Friday, the blaze had grown to 21,515 hectares (83 square miles) and, according to local news outlets, had already destroyed dozens of homes.

Environment Canada alerted residents that the air quality in the county had been impacted by the wildfire smoke, and urged them to wear masks or respirators if spending time outdoors. Credit: Nova Scotia Government via Storyful
