STORY: :: A heatwave hits Bosnia, leaving tourists and locals in picturesque Mostar sweltering

:: August 12, 2024

:: Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina

:: Velida Cosic, Resident

::“If you have heart or blood pressure issues, it is not advisable for you to walk in Mostar between noon and 16:30 due to the intense heat. You should wear a hat and drink a lot of water.”

:: Lillian Rose, Tourist

:: "I’m loving it here, but it’s very, very hot, having to swim a lot, trying to keep cool, get into air-conditioning, drink lots of water. The heat is very real here, it’s dry rather than humid, that’s what we have in Australia. Yeah, it’s very hot here, but it’s beautiful."

Temperatures have been hitting or nearly reaching 100 degrees Farenheit in Belgrade, Skopje, and Athens, which was still tackling wildfires near its suburbs on Tuesday (August 13).

In Mostar, the high temperatures are expected to continue through the week until Friday (August 16) according to Bosnia's meteorological agency, which has issued weather warnings due to the heat for the whole country.
