"Horrifying" footage of a cyclist coming within inches of being killed by a train at a level crossing has been released.

British Transport Police has released CCTV footage of youths it is seeking for lying down on tracks used by passing trains.
A BTP statement said: "We want to find these two youths after they escaped with their lives when they laid across the tracks and on the third rail.

"Luckily for them, the power was switched off due to overnight engineering works – but there would've been no way of them knowing this, and diesel trains involved in the works were running, with one passing through the station shortly before they ventured on to the tracks."

Anyone with information is asked to call on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016. Information can also be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Police Foil Suicide Attempt on Milan Metro

Video footage has captured the moment a sheriff's deputy dragged a driver to safety moments before his car was hit by a train on a crossing.

Authorities said that a car had crashed through the crossing arm in Sunnyvale, California, at around 6.30pm on Monday.

Two deputies were patrolling and spotted the vehicle on the Caltrain tracks. One of the men pulled the male driver from the car seconds before it was struck.

Detective Salvador Zuno, of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department, told CBS News: "These deputies did not hesitate, they acted.

"Had they not acted, who knows what would have happened, I believe because of their actions, this person is alive today."

Det Zuno said the man appeared to be drunk. He has not been identified, but police said he was in his 20s and suffered minor injuries.
