A car was washed away by floodwater as local news reported heavy rain and flooding caused damage across southeastern Portugal on Monday, December 5.

The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection issued a weather alert in the region and warned of flooding, periods of intense rainfall, and the possibility of thunderstorms.
