DeLand Storm Spawns Flooding and 'Likely Tornado'

A powerful storm caused damage across DeLand, Florida, on Tuesday, August 18, with authorities investigating whether a tornado touched down, according to weather reports.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said it was receiving “lots” of damage reports out of DeLand, including downed trees and power lines. They said they planned to survey damage around the city from a “likely tornado” on Wednesday.

Local media reported rain and wind from the storm caused “significant” flooding and damage.
