'Don't Get Vaporized': Efficacy of Double Facemasks Demonstrated in Cold Weather

We’re all used to wearing masks now to help contain the spread of COVID-19. Moisture-control expert Chad Roy used a winter day in Vermont to show how different masks control the release of moisture, with his breath clearly visible in cold air.

In his video, Roy also compares the efficacy of various masks and of the use of two masks.

Masks, he notes, “are not meant to stop all of this micro vapor, which is COVID’s transport [but] masks help with the forward projection of this micro vapor.”

“Understanding the relationship between water vapor and the air is key to stopping COVID,” Roy says. Credit: Chad Roy via Storyful
