Rescue efforts were underway in San Jose, the Philippines, on November 11, as Typhoon Vamco moved in.

The weather bureau of the Philippines, PAGASA, had warned of “destructive typhoon-force winds” and “heavy to intense” rainfall in the areas most affected by the storm.

Some 11,000 people had been evacuated from their homes in response to the typhoon, known locally as Ulysses, local media reported.
