Protesters marched through the streets of Kabul on Saturday, October 1, one day after a suicide bombing killed dozens of Afghan students preparing for university entrance exams, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reported.

The UN Assistant Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said 35 students were killed and 82 wounded. The majority of casualties were girls and young women from the Hazara community, a mainly Shiite Muslim ethnic minority, UNAMA said.

RFE/RL reported that protesters marched past a hospital where victims were being treated chanting, “Stop Hazara genocide” and “It’s not a crime to be a Shia.” Credit: RFE/RL via Storyful
