The lawmakers took videos and selfies of the preparations on the ground and in the planes that flew over the Normandy beaches where, 80 years before, more than 150,000 Allied soldiers invaded France by sea and air to drive out the forces of Nazi Germany, coming ashore at five beaches codenamed Omaha, Juno, Sword, Utah and Gold or dropping from the sky.

The U.S. network ABC News said before they left that the trip was organized by Republicans Mike Waltz and Jason Crow and that the bipartisan group was expected to include 10 congressmen, all veterans themselves, making the trek to France to honor and pay tribute to the U.S. and Allied troops.
