Ukraine Railways said it was resuming services to Mykolaiv for the first time since the Russian invasion, with a train that left Kyiv on November 14 arriving in the eastern city the following morning.

Video from Ukraine’s public broadcaster Suspilne shows the train in Mykolaiv’s main station.

The last long-distance train service arrived in Mykolaiv on February 24, Suspilne said.

“After the deoccupation of Kherson, the front line shifted, and we received permission to restore the railway connection to the city. This is especially important on the eve of winter, when people will be able, if necessary, to conveniently travel to other cities of Ukraine or bring everything they need,” railways official Oleksandr Kamyshin said.
