An orange jumping spider was caught leaving a trace of silk over a phone screen before taking a small jump, as shown in a video filmed by Natalia Cara de Medeiros in Costa Rica.

“Jumping spiders are not only harmless to humans, but are also very cute! They don’t make webs to entrap their prey, but they can spin dragline silk, which makes them more dynamically stable and helps them have a smoother landing”, the De Medeiros said in her post on YouTube.

According to Science News, there are over 6,000 known species of jumping spiders, which are known for their mating dances and their large front eyes.

De Medeiros regularly films videos of wildlife, and has recorded videos of different wildlife species in Brazil, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Bolivia and the United States. Credit: Natalia Cara de Medeiros via Storyful
