''We are telling how this glacier is shrinking, despite the heavy snowfall in the last months of April and May. In just 20 days, in July, it was so hot that it reduced the frontal thickness by two meters (6.6 feet).''

According to the data released by Legambiente, the ''Dei Forni'' glacier, the second largest glacier in Italy, is melting day and night with a high melt rate of 1.6 to 3.1 inches (four to eight centimeters) per day of melted ice at altitudes of 8,694 and 8530 feet (2,650 and 2,600 meters), with a total loss of thickness approaching 6.56 feet (two meters) in the frontal areas in about a month.
