State broadcaster VTV aired footage of families moving after authorities ordered them to relocate to temporary shelters, as well as fishing vessels being secured with ropes in several provinces.

Airports in the coastal cities of Quang Ninh and Haiphong would also be shut from early Saturday (September 7) until 4 p.m. the same day, according to Vietnam's civil aviation authority (CAAV).

Hanoi's Noi Bai airport will also be closed from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., CAAV said.
