Wallaby Joey Retreats Into Pouch as Mother Swims Across Lake in Queensland

A wallaby joey was filmed retreating back into its mom’s pouch as she swam across a lake on South Stradbroke Island, Queensland, on January 6.

Thomas Lundsgaard filmed a video that shows a baby agile wallaby taking a look around as its mum stops at a lakeshore. The baby marsupial then tucks back in for the speedy trip across the water.

Lundsgaard told Storyful that he thought the mother was there for a drink, but she then swam to the other side of the lake.
